Tutorial Videos

Fontana Video This video shows an actual non-scripted tutorial in a 12th grade AVID class at Fontana High School. The student presenter, a student athlete dressed for game day, presents his "30-second speech" explaining his question and what he knows about his question, concluding with "What questions do you have for me?" The tutor in the group is the male seated closest to the white board - he asks one question in the process while the group members ask many. Notice that the student presenter uses a three column format on the whiteboard to document the steps, the problem, and his work. Watch for the student presenter identifying and further clarifying his "point of confusion," the on-going process of questioning leading to his developing understanding, and his reviewing of the process to check understanding. http://rimsavid.org/content/fontana-tutorials-video-2011
