RIMS AVID offers unlimited tutor training at no additional charge as part of a school site's annual Coordinator Workshop fee. This training provides tutors with the initial 8 hours of the 16 required to become a certified AVID tutor. The remaining training is to be completed with the site or district tutor trainer (materials provided by RIMS AVID) in addition to the activities required as part of the tutor portfolio, supervised by the site coordinator. College tutors are always recommended, but volunteers and cross-age tutors from the high school and middle school are welcome. All trainings run from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
