Intended for history/social science teachers who are new to AVID concepts and methodologies. This strand focuses on the strategies from The Write Path History/Social Science Teacher Guide, provided to participants, which emphasizes the use of writing, inquiry, collaboration and reading (WICR) as tools for learning in the history/social science classroom. Participants will examine strategies for guiding students through rigorous curriculum, including techniques for teaching Cornell notes, vocabulary development, reading for understanding, writing with original thought, and oral performances. This strand is organized to reinforce the strengths of vertical team articulation. $350 includes materials, continental breakfast, and lunch. (Click on link to register)
