What would happen if . . . teachers greeted students at the door?

What simple thing can I change in my classroom that would improve my relationship with students tomorrow? 

Will improved relationships change the academics in my entire class?

What will happen to my relationship with my students if I greet them at the door with a positive comment, handshake, or knuckles?

Do I really believe that building positive relationships with students is important?

Have you ever heard students come into your class and say, “That science lecture last period was so exciting, I didn’t want it to end!”?  How about “Wow, those math problems were so GREAT!  I wanted to stay during lunch and finish them up!”?

AVID GRADES

Hello - - Looking for some feedback. I have a 3rd year AVID student (Junior), who unfortunately has fallen below the 2.0 benchmark according to her school. Yet when I calculate her GPA it comes up to a 2.0. The problem lies in that I am informed that her AVID class is combined with her History grade to come up with 1 average.
